Resistance is Futile

Okay, I'm a complete enthusiast when it comes to the cool and unusual and that's what I'm featuring here today.

This isn't the kind of thing that today's Etsian usually sells. Lost River Rags sells amazing hand made soaps, candles and other home goodies. Wonderful stuff through and through and you'll love their shop.

But this beading board? It takes the -cake- and I want one soooo bad! Unfortunately, for me, I use both metric and imperial measurements when I'm working on my stuff so it isn't something I could claim as a practical purchase. But, that didn't keep me from drooling over it when I saw it and hasn't stopped me from returning to look at it again and again since then.

I might have to buy one just because I like it so much and hang the practicality!

My turn to blog about Haiti... Kind Of

Okay, not exactly. But, Haiti's involved because today I'm featuring the Queer Etsy Street Team Collective, which is a shop run by the QueerEtsy Team, who is currently contributing to help with the Haitian relief effort.

This is a great and very talented group of
fun loving GLBTQIQ (gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-gender, queer, inter-sex and questioning) Etsians.

Their collective shop is filled with talented artists and craftspeople that work with every conceivable medium and, among their merchandise, you will find a broad representation of incredible handmade items and vintage treasures.

All items in the shop are donated by the talented members of the Queer Etsy Street Team, and 100% of sales proceeds go to benefit charities of the team's choosing. This month, until February 14th, that charity is the Madre.Org to benefit their emergency fund for the survivors of the Haitian earthquake.

The store offers Free Shipping, too! So, if you're looking for a way to give back or Pay-It-Forward, make sure you head over to the Queer Etsy Street Team Collective and take a look around.

Sizzlin' and Sexy

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I couldn't let it go by without featuring a bit of lingerie. Especially with such talented people on Etsy to tap into for inspiration!

Today's feature is La Belle Fairy, a shop on Etsy that's filled with lots of sumptuous, sexy Victorian and Edwardian corsets in a number of different styles, colors, shapes and sizes.

La Belle Fairy offers both Custom corsets as well as ready-made, too, which is very convenient for difficult to fit body types or people who just want to do the shop-n'-run thing.

One thing's for certain, whether you're shopping for something sexy and classic yourself or for your love for Valentine's Day, this isn't a shop you want to miss.

Cuddle Time

When I was shopping for a new bedspread for my bed, I wish I'd known about today's Etsy shop. I have a feeling that I'd have been much, much happier with one of these beautiful handmade quilts that she has to offer than I am with what I ended up with.

You see, I love to sleep. It's my favorite time of the day, when I get to slide into bed under the weight of comfy blankets and burrow down into the soft warmth. Bed time is paradise.

And if you're like me or know someone else who is, when you take a browse through EveryStitch's shop, you're sure to be just as drawn as I am or find the perfect gift for that someone you've been shopping for.

Even without the need for a new bedspread, I'm still tempted!

This shop is filled with a variety of quilts, all made of 100% cotton fabrics, cotton batting and lots of love. They're created in a smoke-free, pet-free environment and each and every one is even carefully laundered once it's completed.

Valentines Day is Coming

I'm a big fan of the romanticism of watercolors. Soft shades and imperfection blending together to create... perfection. This concept is both touchingly beautiful and intriguing to me.

This is also how today's artist caught my eye. Cynthia Callan isn't just ready for Valentines Day... in my eyes she's living it 365 days a year.

Her shop is filled with wearable watercolors and decorative ornaments of the same. Each one is totally unique and absolutely perfect; romantic and beautiful through and through.

Cynthia has a wide variety of watercolor pieces. In fact, I had a really hard time choosing which piece to show you in this post. Her site offers necklaces, pins, ornaments and stationary just to name a few. There's also a variety of designs available in lots of soft, beautiful colors.

Parchment, Paper and Basket Weaving

Today's artist is Leisha over at CornerstoneLAE on Etsy. When I first discovered her shop, it was through the Etsy Voter where she had a beautiful card on display with a pop-out butterfly. It's delicacy really caught my eye and when I clicked through I found myself even more intrigued.

This shop is filled with earthy, fun and
fanciful delights that I find outrageously tempting. Cards, journals, bowls and more.

I was especially taken with the hand-bound journal pictured in this post.

It has wooden covers that have been burned with cogs on the front and finished with several coats of satin polyurethane to protect the original design image. 128 pages of high quality parchment. Coptic bound with waxed cord so that the book will lie flat when open. Yes yes, I'm in love, can't you tell? I'm a journal lover at heart and I just can't help it. I think it comes from my love of books but who can say?

I'm also really impressed with her basket weave bowls, she even has a few with feather trim for some serious fun! Leisha also loves to do custom work, so be sure to check her out!

Setting the Scene

Meet Nichole Ashton Atelier, an artist that really knows how to set a scene to show off her art. Just take a look at that living room in the picture for this post and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Is that not one of the most beautiful settings for a painting that you've ever seen? The painting itself? Absolutely gorgeous, of course, and the setting shows it off to absolute perfection.

Nichole's artwork is very diverse, too. And, she does custom orders. She'll paint portraits from photos, landscapes from your color swatches or any idea you may have! All you have to do is ask.

Like her artwork itself, her inspiration comes from many different areas. Everything from things she considers simple beauty to her surroundings in Louisiana and much more!
